The New Stone in Technical Ceramics include New Marbles, New Granites and New Stones, that is to say new floor and wall tiling materials, which have opened up new horizons in the field of Architecture and in the research and technology of materials.
These materials are the concrete expression of the technological progress made in the production of New Stones in technical Ceramics.
The New Stones in Technical Ceramics are as natural as those extracted from a quarry, but with much improved performance. They share the same characteristics as traditional floor and wall tiling materials, surface hardness, resistance to atmospheric agents and mechanical resistance, but their added advantages of being larger size, thinner and lighter have led to their use widely replacing quarry products. The Slabs of New Stones are produced using a sophisticated manufacturing process that inserts the veining and colours of quarry stones throughout the entire thickness of the slab (full-body), to obtain a product - the new technical ceramics - whose overall texture and appearance are homologous to the quarry product.
Consequently, they can boast performance much better than quarry stones. In particular, they possess higher durability over time, higher resistance to deep abrasion, total frost resistance, higher resistance to acids and are easy to clean and stain proof. With respect to quarry products, the new stones in technical ceramics:
- Have the same chemical-physical composition, being composed of an identical mixture of sands and salts, with the further advantage of being free of impurities and without being limited by quarry exhaustion;
- They result from an identical manufacturing process: the pressure of geological folding can be compared to the compacting of mechanical pressing and the heat of strata deep-down in the Earth's crust to the heat of firing kilns;
- The surface texture of the slabs reflects that of the full-body: the mixture of sands and salts that produces the patterns is spread throughout the body and not only limited to the surface;
- Each individual slab shares the same particular characteristic of unicity in uniformity. Unicity in quarry products is the result of a casual combination of sands and salts brought about by Nature. The result is guaranteed in GranitiFiandre materials by sophisticated computer controlled algorithms that manage an almost endless number of combinations/shadings, starting from a high number of elementary components, including earths and minerals, the same mixed and recomposed by Nature.
